We will soar, and we will fly,
We will skateboard in the sky,
Land down and then soar again,
In a swift Delorean.
And to those stuck back in time,
We will recite in our rhyme,
As through air, we are flowing
Ha! “Roads? Where we are going
we don’t need roads.” So, we fly,
As we wave the past goodbye.

This was a fun assignment. Mish of dVerse asked us to write poetry that incorporated one of several famous movie quotes she picked out. Seeing a line from Back to the Future, I had to pick this one. 🙂

A great poem for a great movie line!
Thank you, Dwight. 🙂 It was fun.
You are welcome!
Nice capturing the essence of the movie in your lines.
Thank you. I suppose I could have tried to make the line fit something else entirely, but I thought I would make it a complete tribute to the movie. 🙂
I did mine as a tribute to the subject of the film, so I didn’t deviate too much either, though I’m not sure how many people are familiar with Quills.
Right. I don’t think I’ve seen that one. I had another idea for a movie quote that wasn’t listed but won’t give it away in case I do decide to write a poem on that one.
Great homage to a classic movie! I was flying through time with you here 🙂
This was fun and felt kind of joyful! A lovely flow and meter to it.
Thank you. The first two lines came to me fairly quickly after I picked my quote. It did feel rather joyful. I’m glad you felt so. 🙂
I was flying high while reading your verses. Very uplifting! 😊👏👏
Thank you. I’m glad you felt that way. 🙂
I LOVE your poem …….
Thank you, Helen. 🙂
Whoohoo!! Sounds like fun. 🙂 I like the way you broke up the quote to make it flow into your form.
Thank you, Mish. 🙂
I so admire the strength in this poem 💝💝 Gorgeously rendered 🙂
Thank you, Sanaa. 🙂
So much fun if it could work…
Lovely succinct poem and effortless rhyme, Susan! 🙂
