Today, I walked the dog I am caring for, Franco, around the block. I saw this tree along my street and was struck by the shape of the tree and the color of the sky. I began describing it mentally and thought, “That’s almost a poem.” I later tried to work out those thoughts into haiku format.
I’m more of a prose writer, and my poetry writing has been more sparse and sporadic. Still, I thought this was not bad for a quick write.
